San Antonio Municipal Court

The main San Antonio Municipal Court is at 401 S. Frio St, San Antonio, TX 78207. Phone: 210-207-2700. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The court website is sanantonio.gov/Municipal-Court.

Three branch locations serve different parts of the city. Each can handle payments, arraignments, and other case matters during normal business hours:

North Branch525 S. St. Mary's St, San Antonio
South Branch1655 S. Santa Rosa, San Antonio
West Branch3505 Culebra Rd, San Antonio

Your citation paperwork will show which court location is assigned to your case. If you are not sure, call the main line at 210-207-2700 and they can tell you where your case is filed.

The San Antonio online payment portal at municipalonlinepayments.com/sanantoniotx doubles as a case search tool. Enter your citation number, name, or other identifying information to look up your case status and fine amount. This is the simplest way to check whether your citation is in the system.

The statewide TOPICs portal at topics.txcourts.gov/CitationsPublic also covers San Antonio Municipal Court. Use it if you want to search across Texas courts or are not sure which court holds your case. A citation number search usually returns results within a few days of the ticket being filed.

If your ticket was issued by a Bexar County constable, sheriff, or a DPS trooper on a county road, the case goes to a Bexar County JP court, not San Antonio Municipal Court. Those are separate systems. Check the agency listed on your ticket to know which court has jurisdiction.

Note: Paying your fine in Texas is a guilty plea under Art. 27.14(c) CCP. DPS records the conviction on your driving record. Moving violations can affect your insurance. Consider defensive driving or deferred disposition first, especially for speeding citations.

Payment Options

Pay online any time at municipalonlinepayments.com/sanantoniotx. The portal accepts credit cards, debit cards, and eChecks. No need to call or visit the courthouse to use this option. Online payment is the fastest way to resolve a citation if you plan to plead guilty and just want to pay the fine.

In-person payments are taken at all four court locations Monday through Friday during business hours. Bring your citation and a valid photo ID. The court takes cash, check, money order, and major credit and debit cards. Lines at the main courthouse can get long around court dates, so plan ahead or use a branch location if possible.

Mail-in payments are also accepted. Send a check or money order made payable to San Antonio Municipal Court with your citation number on the memo line. Mail to 401 S. Frio St, San Antonio, TX 78207. Send early enough to arrive well before your court date.

Defensive Driving (DSC)

Eligible drivers in San Antonio can request a defensive driving dismissal before their court date. Under Art. 45.0511 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, you must not have completed a DSC course in the past 12 months, you must not hold a CDL if you were driving a commercial vehicle when ticketed, and the violation must qualify. Passing a school bus, failing to stop after an accident, and certain other offenses do not qualify for DSC.

Request DSC before your appearance date. Once the court approves your request, you choose an approved course from the TDLR list at tdlr.texas.gov. Courses are offered online and in person. Complete the course, then submit your certificate to San Antonio Municipal Court. The case is dismissed, and DPS records it as a dismissal rather than a conviction. That protects your driving record and helps keep insurance rates stable.

Call 210-207-2700 to confirm current fees and any local procedures for requesting DSC. The court may have specific deadlines or paperwork steps beyond the state minimums.

Deferred Disposition

Deferred disposition under Art. 45.051 CCP gives you a chance to avoid a conviction without taking a DSC course. The judge suspends your case for a probation period of 90 to 180 days. If you meet the court's conditions and stay clear of new violations during that time, the case is dismissed at the end of the period.

Deferred is handy if you took defensive driving within the last 12 months and are not eligible for DSC. Not every judge approves it automatically, so ask the court about your eligibility when you appear. Some judges attach conditions such as completing a defensive driving course even during deferral. It is worth calling ahead to understand what to expect before your court date arrives.

County Connection

San Antonio is the county seat of Bexar County. Citations issued by county law enforcement officers in unincorporated parts of Bexar County go to Bexar County JP courts, not San Antonio Municipal Court. If you are not sure which system has your case, check the issuing agency on the ticket or call the municipal court and they can point you in the right direction.

State Resources

Use the statewide TOPICs search at topics.txcourts.gov/CitationsPublic to look up any Texas citation. If you missed a court date and suspect your license is blocked, check the OMNI program at texasfailuretoappear.com. OMNI adds a $10 fee and prevents license renewal until cleared. It operates under Transportation Code Ch. 706.

Texas driving records are available from Texas DPS. After your case resolves, order a record to verify the outcome is correctly recorded, especially if you got a dismissal through DSC or deferred disposition.
