Pasadena Texas Traffic Ticket Records

Pasadena traffic ticket records are processed through the Pasadena Municipal Court, which handles Class C misdemeanor citations issued by Pasadena police within city limits. Pasadena is one of the larger cities in Harris County, east of Houston, and is heavily industrialized with significant daily commuter and commercial traffic. Citations from Harris County constables, the sheriff, or state troopers on unincorporated roads go to Harris County JP courts, not Pasadena Municipal Court. This page covers how to search your case, pay your fine, and understand dismissal options.

Pasadena Municipal Court

The Pasadena Municipal Court handles Class C misdemeanor traffic cases from the Pasadena Police Department. The court is located in Pasadena, TX 77501. It handles speeding tickets, red light violations, seat belt offenses, registration issues, and other traffic matters within city limits. If your ticket came from a Pasadena officer, this is your court. If it came from a Harris County constable or a DPS trooper on a highway outside city limits, the case goes to a Harris County JP court instead.

Your citation includes a court date. That is your deadline. You must respond before that date by paying, requesting a dismissal option, or showing up in court. Ignoring the ticket results in a warrant and an OMNI hold on your license renewal through the state failure-to-appear program.

Use the TOPICs statewide citation portal at topics.txcourts.gov/CitationsPublic to search for any Pasadena citation. TOPICs covers both Pasadena Municipal Court and Harris County JP courts. Enter your citation number or driver's license number to find the case. The portal shows which court has the case, the current status, and any balance owed.

The Pasadena city website at ci.pasadena.tx.us provides contact information for the municipal court and links to payment tools. If you are unsure whether your ticket is city or county, TOPICs will confirm which court has it. For Harris County JP court cases, the Harris County JP portal at jp.hctx.net is also searchable.

If you lost the citation, your driver's license number and name should be enough to locate the record. If the online search does not return results, call the court directly. Staff can confirm case status and the amount owed.

Note: Paying a traffic fine in Texas is a guilty plea under Art. 27.14(c) CCP. The conviction goes on your Texas DPS driving record and can raise your insurance rates. Consider defensive driving or deferred disposition for moving violations before paying.

Payment Options for Pasadena Citations

Pasadena Municipal Court accepts payment online, in person, and by mail. The city website at ci.pasadena.tx.us links to the online payment portal. Online payment is available by credit or debit card and can be completed outside of court business hours. In-person payment is accepted at the court during regular hours. Bring your citation number and a valid ID.

Mail-in payment by check is also an option. Make the check payable to the City of Pasadena Municipal Court and write your citation number clearly on the check. Mail it with enough time before the due date for the payment to arrive and be processed.

If you cannot pay the full amount, call the court before the due date and ask about installments. Acting before the deadline is important. After the due date, additional fees apply, and the court may issue a warrant. OMNI holds blocking your license renewal can result from failure to appear. Clear them at texasfailuretoappear.com by paying the outstanding amount plus the $10 OMNI fee.

Defensive Driving Dismissal

Eligible Pasadena drivers can have a traffic ticket dismissed by completing a state-approved defensive driving course under Art. 45.0511 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Request this before your court date. The ticket must be for a qualifying moving violation. You must not have taken a defensive driving course within the past 12 months. CDL holders using a commercial vehicle at the time of the stop are not eligible.

Disqualifying factors also include being stopped at 95 mph or more, failing to stop after an accident, passing a school bus illegally, or a violation in an active construction zone. If those do not apply, request DSC when you contact the court. Once approved, the court gives you a deadline to complete the course and submit the certificate.

Complete any TDLR-approved course. Online and classroom options are available. Find the list at tdlr.texas.gov. Submit the certificate by the deadline. The court dismisses the case and DPS records a Type 3A dismissal, not a conviction. Your insurance rates are not affected by the stop.

Deferred Disposition

Under Art. 45.051 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Pasadena Municipal Court can grant deferred disposition. The judge suspends the case for a probation period of 90 to 180 days. If you comply with all conditions and avoid new violations during that time, the case is dismissed with no conviction at the end of the period.

Deferred is a strong option when DSC is unavailable. If you already took a defensive driving course in the past year, deferred may still be accessible. The judge has full discretion to grant or deny it. Some judges require a DSC course as a condition of deferral. Ask the court specifically about deferred disposition when you contact them before your court date.
