How to Search Fort Worth Citation Records
The Fort Worth online payment portal through nCourt at ncourt.com/x-press/x-onlinepayments.aspx allows you to look up your case and pay the fine. Search by citation number or other identifying information. This is the main online tool for Fort Worth Municipal Court citations.
The statewide TOPICs tool at topics.txcourts.gov/CitationsPublic also covers Fort Worth Municipal Court and can help you locate your case if you do not have your citation number handy. Enter your name or citation number to search.
If your ticket was issued by a Tarrant County constable, sheriff, or a DPS trooper on a state road outside city limits, the case is in a Tarrant County JP court, not Fort Worth Municipal Court. Check the issuing agency on your ticket to know which court system applies.
Note: In Texas, paying your fine is a guilty plea under Art. 27.14(c) CCP. DPS records the conviction. For moving violations, that can raise your insurance rates. Look into defensive driving or deferred disposition before paying, especially for speeding.
Payment Options
Pay online through nCourt at ncourt.com/x-press/x-onlinepayments.aspx. The portal accepts major credit and debit cards. Payment is available around the clock, so you do not need to visit during business hours.
Phone payment is available at 682-999-3681. Call during business hours and have your citation number and a credit or debit card ready. This option works well if you prefer to talk to someone or do not want to use the online portal.
In-person payments are accepted at all five court locations Monday through Friday during normal hours. Walk-in docket sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday also allow you to appear and pay at the same time. Mail-in payment by check or money order is also accepted at 1000 Throckmorton St, Fort Worth, TX 76102. Include your citation number on the check.
Defensive Driving (DSC)
Fort Worth Municipal Court follows the state rules under Art. 45.0511 CCP for defensive driving dismissals. You must request DSC before your court date. You cannot have taken a state-approved DSC course in the past 12 months. CDL holders driving a commercial vehicle are not eligible. Certain violations do not qualify, including passing a school bus and failing to stop after an accident.
Once approved, select a course from the TDLR-approved list at tdlr.texas.gov. Complete it and submit your certificate to Fort Worth Municipal Court. The case gets dismissed. DPS records the outcome as a dismissal, not a conviction, which protects your driving record and your insurance rates.
Call 817-392-6700 to confirm current court costs for the DSC option. Course fees are paid separately to the course provider and vary by vendor, but online courses typically run $25 to $45.
Deferred Disposition
Under Art. 45.051 CCP, Fort Worth Municipal Court judges can defer a case for 90 to 180 days. If you meet all conditions set by the court and avoid new offenses during the deferral window, the judge dismisses the case. No conviction is entered.
Deferred disposition is a good fallback when DSC is not available, such as when you completed a course within the last year. It is also sometimes available for violations that do not qualify for DSC. Show up ready to ask about it, or call 817-392-6700 ahead of your court date to find out whether the judge is likely to approve deferral for your type of case.
County Connection
Fort Worth is in Tarrant County. Citations issued by Tarrant County constables, sheriff deputies, or state troopers in areas outside Fort Worth city limits go to Tarrant County JP courts. Those are separate from Fort Worth Municipal Court. If your ticket was not issued by a Fort Worth Police officer, check the Tarrant County JP system for your case.
